2021 Update: New Home, Job, & Looking Ahead

Hello friends!

2021 flew right by in a whirlwind of activity, and I have much to update you on. I wanted to update about some major life changes all in one big post to celebrate this past year.

Our New Home

First, I wanted to update that this past spring, we bought our very first house! We moved from Westminster, Maryland to Hanover, Pennsylvania. It feels great to be back in Pennsylvania as I feel I always will be a Pennsylvanian at heart. We have been quite busy these past few months getting settled in our new place (hello deep jewel tone colorful beautiful walls!) packing, unpacking, and slowly but surely getting settled in. If you would like our new address, let me know! :)

Here are a few photos from when we first moved in:

Celeste is enjoying the new art studio! For the art studio, I’m going for an “overgrown enchanted fairy-tale garden” vibe, inspired by a dream I once had.

More photos coming of each of the rooms once I get everything all unpacked and decorated. The green is a deep mossy leaf green in person… I’m hope to make it a truly enchanting place to work - a magical oasis.

To the left is a quick snap of our bathroom decorated for Christmas. I’m going for a moon garden theme for the bedroom and bathroom, and this grouping perfectly encapsulates the theme. The candle is “In Darkwoods Wild” by Sihaya and Company. With its gorgeous iridescent glittery top, it is seriously too pretty to burn!

Job Update

Another wonderful major life event happened in 2021! I am happy to say that earlier this year I accepted a job as an instructional designer for the Frederick National Laboratory of Cancer Research.

I design e-learning courses and instructional resources that support our team of scientists, technicians, administrators, and support staff working at the forefront of science, with a focus on cancer, AIDS and emerging infectious diseases (COVID-19, Ebola, Zika, etc.)

Frederick National Lab is the only national laboratory focused exclusively on biomedical research. FNL supports the National Cancer Institute, and other institutes and centers in the National Institutes of Health. I feel incredibly blessed that I get to work at FNL! I LOVE my job, my co-workers, and I have the best boss! It feels wonderful to be working where I know I’m helping make a difference.

Art Update

After a lot of contemplation, I’ve decided to make some changes in regards to freelance work. I am going to limit the kinds of custom work and the amount of work I accept going forward in favor of balance and focusing on my own personal art.

This year, I am only planning to accept a few commissions for illuminated watercolor florals and metal / fantasy logos. I have some booked for 2022 already, and going forward I plan to have my custom work focus here.

I will still be offering (2022 & beyond)

  • Illuminated botanical art (custom watercolor wedding bouquets)

  • Metal & fantasy style logos

I am open to discussing for 2023+

  • Custom art that happens to be the perfect aesthetic fit

  • Tattoo designs (MUST be perfect aesthetic fit)

  • Custom fairy-tale style photography shoots / edits

I am closing out the following services for the foreseeable future:

  • Wedding photography

  • Website design

  • Social media design

  • CD booklet design

  • Merch mockup design

If you have a question about anything, please feel free to email me at lindsey@luminanoctisart.com. I’m happy to help!

These custom project slots will be extremely limited, as I am prioritizing my personal art, cultivating a beautiful peaceful home, friends & family, cooking, spiritual practice, poetry, and wellbeing.

I hope this shift will eventually also help me get back to making perfume and soap for fun, but most importantly, freeing me up to explore personal art ideas with renewed focus. Lumina Noctis is not going anywhere, it is just shifting back to a more personal creative art focus. I really appreciate everyone who has continued to support me as Lumina Noctis has grown and evolved over the years to best suit life at the time. Thank you!

These photos are all from my old studio in Maryland - looking forward to getting my new studio space all unpacked and decorated.

2021 was a year of transition and unbelievable, unexpected highs and lows. I’m focusing on celebrating the abundance of this year and looking ahead to a year teeming with possibilities for 2022. I don’t think I have ever been this excited about the dawn of a new year!

Wishing you all health, happiness, inspiration,

& energy to make all your dreams a reality.

Cheers to 2022 & Happy New Year!

With love,

Lindsey & Chris
